Some classic pictures of Inverness, Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle

Here are some pictures of Inverness, Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle.

By the way, the late Richard Frere in his book on Loch Ness was greatly impressed with the two giant turbines at Foyers power station. He wrote, "Given four rather broad assumptions I reached a staggering conclusion. If the rivers and burns that feed Loch Ness were diverted, if no rain should fall upon the Loch for the period of the exercise, if the pump intake could be set at its deepest point, and if a suitable river could be found to carry its waters to the sea, then Loch Ness could be drained of every drop of water by this pair of machines in one year and and one hundred and fifty two days!"

On telling a fishermen friend this story and wondering what amazing finds would be revealed he responded. "Well, I know of at least three outboard motors that are down there!"
